Ingres to Share How Open Source Drives a $1.2 Billion Market

Ingres Vice President Deb Woods to Discuss How Appliances are Changing the Face of Software and Technical Account Manager Tyler McGraw to Shed Light on New Partnership

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - March 17, 2010 - Ingres Corporation, the leading open source database management company and pioneer of the New Economics of IT, announced today that Deb Woods, vice president of product management at Ingres, is one of several technology leaders who will join Novell to discuss how open source is driving a $1.2 billion market at Computerworld"s Open Source Business Conference (OSBC) 2010 scheduled for today and tomorrow in San Francisco, CA. In addition, Tyler McGraw, technical account manager at Ingres, will speak next week at the Novell BrainShare conference in Salt Lake City, Utah and introduce the recently announced, SUSE Studio Appliance Template for Ingres Database.

Deb Woods will speak on a panel titled, "A Software Appliance Roundtable - How Open Source Drives a $1.2 Billion Market." Woods will participate on Thursday, March 18th from 9:45 - 10:15 a.m. (PST), where she will discuss the rapidly changing software delivery model and the increasing demand for software appliances.

Woods will be joined by moderator Carlos Montero-Luque, vice president, Business and Product Management for Open Platform Solutions, Novell; Jean Staten Healy, director of Cross-IBM Linux strategy & marketing, IBM; Peter Jackson, president and CEO, GroundWork Open Source; and Ashish Morzaria, senior product manager - emerging strategies group, SAP. The discussion will center on how trends, such as cloud computing, are driving the explosive demand for software appliances, how appliances are transforming the software delivery paradigm and why open source is the key enabler of this growing market.

Tyler McGraw, technical account manager, Ingres, will be speaking the following week at Novell BrainShare in Salt Lake City. McGraw"s session, "Using SUSE Studio to Effectively Showcase Technology" will look at the alliance partnership between Novell and Ingres and discuss how it will enable software developers to build appliances for business critical applications and help to increase the success of packaged solution deployments. McGraw"s session is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (MT) on Tuesday, March 23rd, at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
