What's New in TinyTERM 4.7.0

The following are some of the new features added to TinyTERM and TinyTERM Plus version 4.7.0.

Automatic Line Wrapping

TinyTERM now includes the option to resize the number of rows and columns when dragging the window larger or smaller. Lines of text will wrap automatically to fit the new window size.

To set this mode, select the "Extend lines/columns when resizing" option on the Font tab of the Settings dialog. You can control the font size by entering a value in the Font Size edit box beneath the Extend option.

Destructive Backspace

The "Destructive Backspace" option on the Keyboard tab of the Settings now works in all field types for TN3270 and TN5250 terminal emulations. This feature continues to be available in all other terminal types as well.

TinyTERM/TinyTERM Plus 4.7.0 Version Number Changes

To keep in step with the newly released TinyTERM ITX product line and its easy-to-understand version numbering scheme, Century Software is making a change to the version numbering of our TinyTERM and TinyTERM Plus products for Windows as well. We will be streamlining the current version number 4.65.5012 to a simple three-digit number, 4.7.0.

New Version Number Scheme

The new number sequencing will help you to identify easily if there have been enhancements made or bug fixes added to any version. Previously a four-digit number after the version was used; e.g., 4.65.5012. This old scheme used a Julian build date and made it difficult to determine whether just bug fixes or new enhancements were made.

How the new sequence works:

This means that, if the next release were to be 4.7.1, the .1 would indicate bug fixes were added to the 4.7.0 version.

Maintenance Policy Tied to Version Number

When any number in the version changes — major, minor, or bug fix — upgrades are now tied to the maintenance program. If you are currently on a maintenance agreement, there is no change. You still receive any and all releases — including updates, patches and bug fixes — free of charge.

If you are not on a maintenance agreement, you are not protected. You will need to buy an upgrade to get the latest version, or get on a maintenance program. Now is the time to get maintenance coverage, as these updates will not be freely available.

If you just purchased and registered TinyTERM within 30 days of purchase, you automatically get 60 days of maintenance FREE. You also have 30 days from date of purchase to add maintenance coverage. To get updates, patches or bug fixes otherwise will require upgrading, which is 40% off new license pricing.

You will need a current maintenance agreement to receive the upcoming TinyTERM 4.7.0 at no additional charge.
